Zoran Šangut

Zoran Šangut was born in 1970 in Vukovar where he spent a happy childhood and early youth. At the beginning of the war he joined the defence of Vukovar. He participated in the heaviest battles on the Trpinjska Road. After the fall of Vukovar in November 1991 together with other defenders of the town, he was captured and sent to camps in Serbia: Sremska Mitrovica, Stajićevo and Niš. He was a victim and a witness of heavy human rights violations. On March 27, 1992 he was released from the camp and he returned to Croatia. After his recovery and rehabilitation he graduated law in Zagreb. He is one of the founders of the Association of Lawyers 'Vukovar 1991' which is involved with encouraging the prosecution of those responsible for the camps in the territory of Serbia.
