Željko Obradović
Željko Obradović was born in 1967 in Donji Lapac. His family suffered grave losses in the Second World War. During the period of Yugoslavia he spent nine years living in Germany, where his father had a temporary job. Following the formation of SAO Krajina [Serbian Autonomous Oblast of Krajina] he was mobilised into the Krajina Army. In May 1995 he was arrested by the Krajina government for having criticised Serb political leaders. He spent 22 days in prison in Frkašić. After Operation Storm, he sought refuge in Serbia. He and his family attempted to emigrate beyond the region. Since his attempts were unsuccessful, he decided to return to Croatia in 1999. Today he lives in Donji Lapac with his family. He is a member of the SDSS [Independent Democratic Serb Party] and he advocates the rights of the Serb national minority.
