Željko Brala

Željko Brala comes from Posedarje, 25 kilometres from Zadar. He was born in 1968 in Zadar. In March 1991 he joined the police forces and he became a member of the Military Police special unit in Zadar. He took part in military actions throughout Zadar County. He was in the special unit until the end of 1992, when he was transferred to the First Police Station in Zadar. He was employed on various battlefields, securing the lines of fighting. During this time, his life was often endangered and he witnessed the deaths of co-fighters. In 1992 his mother was gravely wounded during the shelling of his family home in Posedarje. In 1997 he retired, suffering from PTSD. Today he lives in Posedarje with his wife and four children, and is occupied with organic farming.
