Zdravko Pavičić

Zdravko Pavičić was born in 1961 in Slavonski Brod. His parents come from Lika, but after the Second World War they were settled in Slavonski Brod. At the beginning of the war in the 1990s, he was in Slavonski Brod. He was under a work obligation and thus continued to go to work every day, under shelling, very often putting his life at risk. He worked for Đuro Đaković, a company which produced arms, tools and ammunition to fulfil the needs of the Croatian Army during the war. At his workplace he suffered grave injuries to his arm, leg, stomach, liver and lungs. As a result of these injuries he spent a considerable time in a coma, with his life hanging by a thread. Following his recovery, he suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. In 2004 he suffered a serious stroke. The assumption is that it was a consequence of the injuries he suffered in the war. Today he is retired and the beneficiary of a disability allowance. He brought an action against his former employer for compensation and won the case. He also brought an action against the state on the basis that his injuries were incurred during his work obligation, but he received no compensation. He is active in the Association of Civil Victims of the Homeland War.
