Vjeran Piršić

Vjeran Piršić was born in 1963 in Rijeka. He comes from a family that experienced unpleasantries and suffering as a result of their pro-Croatian attitudes and actions during Yugoslavia. Before the war in the 1990s he lead a settled and comfortable life with his family. At the beginning of the war, following the death of his friend, the well known cameraman Gordan Lederer, he joined the Croatian Army. An informatician by vocation, in February 1992 he started working for the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia, on archiving and documenting. A part of his work, which consisted of gathering documentation, took place on the ground. He was directly involved in the war during Operation Storm. At the end of 1995 he left the Ministry of Defence and started his own business. His interest in ecology began in 1999, when he moved to the island of Krk. Today he is an established eco-activist and President of the Eko Kvarner Association.
