Vesna Bogunović

Vesna Bogunović was born in 1959 in Gračac, in the Lika region. During the Second World War her family suffered material and human losses. Until the war in the 1990s she lived in Zadar. Following the change of government in Croatia and the deterioration in relations amongst nationalities, she returned to her hometown of Gračac and remained there during the period of SAO Krajina [Serbian Autonomous Oblast of Krajina]. After Operation Storm she sought refuge in Serbia. She witnessed the shelling of the refugee column in Petrovac. In 1999, she returned from refuge. For the first eight years following their return, her and her family lived as tenants. After suing the State of Croatia, they were awarded an apartment, in which they still live today. She works as an assistant librarian in Gračac.
