Tatjana Škrbić

Tatjana Škrbić was born in 1957 in Osijek. She is an economist by vocation. Very early in life she became interested in politics: during her time at university she was a student representative in the Croatian Parliament (Sabor). She was working for ''Štampa'' in Osijek when, on the eve of the war, the firm was taken over by Branimir Glavaš. Following the start of the shelling of Osijek, she sent her daughter to stay with family in Zagreb. Soon after, following absence from work due to war circumstances, she was fired. Subsequently, she too sought refuge in Zagreb. During her absence, members of the Croatian National Guard entered her apartment and seized it. Soon after, she managed to get her apartment back and she returned to Osijek. The start of her involvement in peace activities dates from that time; she was one of the founders of the Centre for Peace in Osijek. Under the auspices of her peace activities she went to the area of Krajina in 1996 and organised activities with the aim of promoting inter-nation relations. From the very beginning she was involved with the process of peaceful reintegration and she supported it. Today she lives in Osijek and works as the Executive Director of the Osijek Centre for Peace, Non-violence and Human Rights.
