Slaven Rašković

Slaven Rašković was born in 1984 in Knin. At the beginning of the war in the 1990s he was a pupil in the first year of primary school in Knin. Following Operation Storm his parents, with four young children, joined the refugee column and escaped to Serbia. In Serbia, they spent most of their time in refuge in Subotica. His parents tried on a few occasions to return to Croatia with the children illegally. In 1997, when his parents were given Croatian citizenship, they returned to Knin with their children. Since their house had been assigned to a Croatian family that had escaped from Vojvodina, his family only moved back into their home at the end of 1998. Having finished his studies at the Grammar School in Knin, Slaven went on to study sociology at the University of Zagreb. Today he lives in Zagreb. He works for a non-governmental organisation, leading a project documenting human losses in war.
