Ružica Bisaha
Ružica Bisaha was born in 1956 in the village of Potnjana near Đakovo, in Slavonia. She spent her childhood and youth in the countryside. Whilst still very young, it fell to her to take care of her ill father and it was only after getting married that she moved to Osijek and started leading an independent life with her own family. They finished building a family house in 1989, just before the beginning of the war. She was in Osijek when the war started and, according to her memories, it took a long time for her to accept the fact that the war had indeed broken out. In September 1991, during a fierce attack on Osijek, a shell hit her house. The house was destroyed and she was left seriously injured. She spent months receiving treatment, and still suffers as a result of her injuries. She is active in an association that deals with the protection and promotion of the rights of civil war victims.
