Natalija Bešlić was born in 1983 in Osijek. She comes from a mixed Croat-Serb family. Her mother's family stayed in the area of SAO Krajina, in Tenja, during the war in the 1990s. Due to heavy shelling in Osijek, her parents sent Natalija and her brothers to stay in the surroundings of Poreč, where shelter was provided in a children's resort. From November 1991 to May 1992 - when they returned to Osijek - Natalija and her brothers lived and attended school in Istria. In 1994 her parents decided to move to Rijeka and Natalija has been living there ever since. She has a degree in cultural studies and works in a bookshop.
