Milka Grdić

Milka Grdić was born in 1940 in Saborsko, in Lika. At the beginning of the war in the 1990s she was with her family in Saborsko. She and her husband managed to provide a good education for all of their five children. She spent the whole period of the siege in Saborsko. Following the fall of Saborsko, in November 1991, she, her husband, one of her sons and another man from the village hid in the woods on one of the hills above Saborsko for a month. After having been saved, she went into exile. When she returned to Saborsko in August 1996, they found the village destroyed and burnt down. They got down to work rebuilding it and they still live there today. Her faith provided her with comfort during these times of hardship.
