Miladin Jakovljević

Miladin Jakovljević was born in 1948, in the municipality of Ključ, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1959 his parents moved to Croatia. Before the war in the 1990s he worked as member of the medical staff at the health centre in Pakrac, where he found himself at the beginning of the war. As attacks on Pakrac started, his family went to seek shelter in Bjelovar. As a result of various circumstances he remained in Pakrac, where he was captured by the Serb Army. Despite his ethnic origin, he was detained in the Bučje camp, where the prisoners were mostly Croats. Having been released from Bučje in December 1991, he went to Bjelovar to be reunited with his family. There, he was called up for Civil Protection. During his stay in Bjelovar, his house in Pakrac was blown up. He sought compensation from the state, but later gave up on the case, having estimated that he would lose. His house has been reconstructed. Today he lives in Pakrac with his wife.
