Mihovil Pavlić

Mihovil Pavlić was born in 1928 in Jelov Klanac, in the municipality of Rakovica. The area suffered greatly in the Second World War. He lost a brother who fought with the Croatian Home Guard. Both before and after the Homeland War, Croats constituted a majority in the municipality of Rakovica. When the Homeland War broke out, he was in Klanac. He stayed in the occupied area until 1993. He witnessed the abuse of civilians and was himself tortured by members of the SAO Krajina Army [Serbian Autonomous Oblast of Krajina]. After that he took refuge in the village of Draganac, near Čazma. In 2001 he returned to the Rakovica area. The state later helped him rebuild his house in Rakovica.
