Marina Desin

Marina Desin was born in 1952 in Molunat, in Konavle, to a land owning family which, as well as leasing land, was involved in commerce and hospitality. She earned a degree in Ethnology and Italian Studies in Zagreb, after which she returned to Konavle. She was there when the war started in the 1990s. After the initial destruction she went with her family to seek shelter, first to Dubrovnik and later to Zagreb. In November 1992 she returned to Konavle where she worked on the evaluation of damage done to cultural monuments, in the framework of a project carried out by the Ministry of Culture. Her family house was destroyed and plundered. She was a witness at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at the trial of the "Dubrovnik four". Today she runs the Konavle County Museum in Čilipi.
