Jovo Kovačević
Jovo Kovačević was born in 1957 in Donji Lapac. During the Second World War his family supported the Partisan movement. In September 1991 he was mobilised by the SAO Krajina Army [Serbian Autonomous Oblast of Krajina]. On August 5, 1995 he left with the column of refugees, together with his wife and two small children, to seek refuge in Serbia. In 1997 he managed to have the necessary papers issued by the Croatian authorities and decided to return to Donji Lapac. His house was rebuilt in 2002. His father-in-law stayed in the village of Brezovac following Operation Storm, and was killed. The crime is currently being examined by the Donji Lapac office of the Gospić Municipal Court.
