Enver Babić
Enver Babić was born in 1957 in Foča, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a result of the modest economic circumstances of his family, he was sent to the Military Academy in Zemunik near to Zadar to be educated. After leaving the Military Academy he went to Slovenia, and in 1984 he moved to Dubrovnik. At the beginning of the war in the 1990s he was in Mokošica, a suburb of Dubrovnik, where he lived with his family. At the very beginning he joined the town defence and stayed in Mokošica until its fall, on November 23, 1991. His family went to seek refuge and he continued his involvement with the Služba za motrenje, izviđanje, obavješćivanje (MIO) [Service for observation, scouting and intelligence] as a codes clerk. He remained in that post until the beginning of the Croat-Bosnian conflict in October 1992, when he was transferred to lower rank duties. Despite the fact that his flat in Mokošica was destroyed during a shelling, he remained in Dubrovnik until the end of the war. He was demobilised on December 31, 1995. Today he lives in Mokošica with his family.
