Đuro Kresović

Đuro Kresović was born in Modrino Selo, in Šibenik hinterland on December 2, 1937. During the Second World War his family participated in People's Liberation Movement. Before the war in the nineties he had been working as a Municipal Court Judge in Zadar. In September 1991 he was suspended from work. After that, he lived in eleven different places. During the war he was a judge in Knin and Beli Manastir. He retired on April 1, 1998. He witnessed many violations of human rights and was exposed to violence. His apartment in Zadar was demolished and he sued the Republic of Croatia in 1997. The lawsuit was dismissed in 2003 and he was forced to pay 84 000 kuna (11 thousand euros) for the cost of legal representation. Since 2000, he has been living in Kresovići, in the Šibenik hinterland.
