Ane Desin

Ane Desin was born in 1922 in Mikulići in the Konavle region. Apart from the period that she spent in refuge during the Homeland War, she has lived in Konavle all her life. Before the Second World War she attended Domaćinska škola [Home Economics School] in Zeta Banovina, in what is today Montenegro. She was a witness to various historical periods: life in Konavle in the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the beginning of the Second World War, the arrival of the Italians and the Germans, the liberation of Konavle, the arrival of the Partisans and life in post-War Yugoslavia. At the beginning of the war in the 1990s she was in Konavle and she was forced to leave and seek refuge with other members of her family. Their house was plundered and destroyed. Today she lives in Cavtat.
